(June 5, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close and detour the MD 86 (Lineboro Road) bridge over the south branch of Gunpowder Falls in Carroll County from tonight at 7 p.m. until Sunday, June 7. The closure is necessary to install pipes as part of the $7 million bridge replacement project expected to be complete in summer 2021.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Allan Myers, Inc., will detour vehicles using Traceys Mill Road. They will use electronic message boards, signs and cones to alert motorists ahead of the closure and guide them through the detour. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time if traveling during the closure.

Approximately 3,800 vehicles travel on the MD 86 bridge over the south branch of Gunpowder Falls during normal traffic patterns.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
