Daytime Project Includes Middletown Parkway Intersection

(March 21, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will make roadway improvements on US 40 Alternate (Old National Pike) between Middletown Parkway and Fern Lane, a span of one mile, in Middletown, Frederick County next week.

Starting Monday, March 25, at 8 a.m., crews will close one travel lane and use a flagging operation to maintain two-way traffic. Crews will work weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until expected completion in April, weather permitting.

As part of the project, crews will remove the top layer of the driving surface, smooth out depressions and install a new surface.

The contractor, Francis O. Day Company of Frederick, will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists about the lane closures and work zones.
