Over Next Two Weeks, Motorists Can Expect Weekday Lane Closures, Flagging Operations
(September 8, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin two highway improvement projects in Harford County over the next two weeks.
On Thursday, September 11, crews will improve the pavement on a 3.4-mile section of MD 165 (Baldwin Mill Road) from MD 152 (Fallston Road) to MD 23 (East-West Highway). They will work 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
During work hours, motorists can expect single-lane closures with flagging operations to control two-way traffic on MD 165. Crews and flaggers will use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists through the work zone.
The $921,000 micro-surfacing project is part of a $2.4 million State Highway Administration contract to micro-surface pavements to preserve improve pavement friction and motorist safety on State highways in Baltimore and Harford counties. The contractor is Slurry Pavers, Inc. of Richmond, VA. The work will be completed in spring 2026.
Crews will clean and paint the MD 7 (Philadelphia Road) bridge over the “Big” Gunpowder Falls beginning as soon as Monday, September 15.
Contractor crews will work along MD 7 during daytime hours 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and overnight 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. During work hours, motorists can expect single-lane closures with flagging operations to control two-way traffic on MD 7. Crews and flaggers will use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists through the work zone.
The $273,000 project is part of a $2.8 million State Highway Administration contract to clean and paint bridges on State highways in Baltimore and Harford counties. The contractor is Reglas Painting of Dundalk. The work on MD 7 will be completed by mid-fall 2025.
