Closure Will Be in Place 8 p.m. Friday - 8 a.m. Sunday; Detour Route Includes I-695 / MD 41 (Perring Parkway) Interchange
(November 2, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close and detour the interchange exit ramp from westbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) to northbound MD 147 (Harford Road) in Parkville this weekend. The closure will allow crews to install a new underground drainage pipe. The work is expected to be completed by 8 a.m. Sunday, November 8, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect this closure and detour between 8 p.m. Friday, November 6, and 8 a.m. Sunday, November 8. During the ramp closure, motorists traveling from the outer loop of I-695 to northbound MD 147 will be directed to go to MD 41 (Perring Parkway), through the MD 41 interchange to the inner loop of I-695 to northbound MD 147. The ramp from the outer loop of I-695 to southbound MD 147 will remain open during the weekend.
- There also will be a temporary single right lane closure on the outer loop of I-695 from US 1 (Belair Road) to MD 41 between 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
- There will be a temporary double right lane closure on the outer loop of I-695 from US 1 to MD 41 between 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
Contractor crews will use digital message boards, temporary traffic signs and barrels to direct motorists through the highway work zone and temporary ramp detour route. In case of inclement weather, the work and detour will take place on the next possible weekend.
The underground pipe installation is part of the I-695 Transportation Systems Management and Operations project from I-70 to MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) in Baltimore County to enable eventual part-time shoulder use during peak drive times. The State’s contractor for the I-695 TSMO project is Concrete General Inc. of Gaithersburg.
The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
