Study Update

MDOT SHA appreciated the opportunity to work together with the community to identify Takoma Junction’s existing strengths and challenges, and document a long-range transportation vision for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. For several months, MDOT SHA consulted community members to learn about their experiences moving around the intersection of MD 195 (Carroll Avenue) and MD 410 (Philadelphia Avenue/Carroll Avenue/Ethan Allen Avenue) in Takoma Park. Through surveys, stakeholder meetings, and public workshops, the study identified common themes and values to craft a community vision.

Study activities are now complete. This winter, MDOT SHA will share study findings with key stakeholders prior to publishing a final Takoma Junction Vision Plan. The final vision plan, along with other planning and technical reference materials, will be used to evaluate proposed improvements and mitigation strategies in Takoma Junction.
