(February 28, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close the ramps from MD 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) to I-70 eastbound, and from I-70 eastbound to MD 65 northbound, weekends through the end of March for repaving, striping and new lighting installation.

The closures will be in place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Sunday through Thursday. These closures will allow crews to complete the final stages of this phase without disrupting rush hour. The detours are below and will include signs, flagging staff and traffic barrels to direct motorists safely.

Motorists heading to MD 65 north:

  • Take Exit 32B onto US 40 westbound
  • Take I-70 westbound exit from US 40
  • Take I-70 West to Exit 29

Motorists on MD 65 wanting to go east on I-70:

  • Take the on ramp from MD 65 to I-70 west
  • Take exit 28 (MD 632)
  • Turn left at the traffic signal onto MD 632
  • Proceed to I-70 eastbound on the ramp
  • Follow signs to head east

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our contractor. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on the road and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Drive like you work here and slowdown in construction zones.
