MDOT SHA Logo)(November 12, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is improving the driving surface of the MD 56 (Big Pool Road) bridge over I-70 (Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway) starting November 13. From 7:00 a.m. through 4 p.m. tomorrow, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, MDOT SHA crews will close MD 56 so they can pour a new concrete deck onto the bridge. This surface improvement is part of the $3.3 million bridge rehabilitation project expected to be complete by September 2021. Motorists will be guided through the following detour: MD 56 will be closed at the bridge over I-70 MD 56 northbound traffic will be detoured onto 1-70 east to MD 68 to I-70 west MD 56 southbound traffic detoured onto I-70 west to MD 615 to I-70 east MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers.
