***TRAFFIC ALERT*** MDOT SHA PAVING NEW US 219 ROUNDABOUT IN GARRETT COUNTY TODAY

​(December 11, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is paving the newly constructed roundabout US 219 (Chestnut Ridge Road) and I-68 (National Freeway) in Garrett County. The work began at 7 a.m. and traffic will be detoured until its expected completion at 7 p.m.   

While the paving is taking place, motorists will be guided through the following detour:

  • I-68 eastbound traffic headed north on US 219 will be detoured via Exit 24, Lower New Germany Road
  • Chestnut Ridge Road northbound traffic traveling to US 219 will be detoured to Exit 24, Lower New Germany Road
  • US 219 southbound traffic headed to Chestnut Ridge Road or eastbound I-68 will be directed to Exit 19 , MD 495 (Bittinger Road)
  • I-68 westbound traffic headed north or south to Chestnut ridge Road or eastbound I-68 will be detoured via Exit 24, Lower New Germany Road      

Portable message signs and directional signs are in place on I-68 to help motorists navigate through the detour. MDOT SHA contractor, Triton Construction, Inc from Albans, WV, will be conducting the work. Learn more about the project HERE.
