New Temporary Two-Way Construction Traffic Pattern Starts Monday

August 13, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) and its contractor have scheduled a traffic lane shift for the Cove Road bridge over I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in eastern Baltimore County.

On or after 9 a.m. Monday morning, August 16, MDOT SHA and its contractor will shift the temporary two-way traffic pattern with one lane in each direction from the westbound/north side of the bridge to the eastbound/south side of the bridge. The traffic pattern switch will require temporary single lane closures Monday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with flag-persons controlling two-way traffic on the bridge. The new traffic pattern will be in effect through late fall.

The work is part of MDOT SHA’s $4 million project to rehabilitate the Cove Road bridge over the Baltimore Beltway.  The State’s contractor is Concrete General, Inc. of Gaithersburg. Learn more about the project HERE.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists can dial #77 or 911 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
