Work Near Swan Creek Expected to be Completed by Monday Morning Rush Hour

(November 29, 2021) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will complete a project to replace a deteriorated drainage pipe carrying a branch of Swan Creek under MD 445 (Tolchester Road) between Friday, December 3 and 6 a.m. Monday, December 6. The work will take place between Humphreys Point Road and Lovers Lane in the Rock Hall area of Kent County.

On Friday at 7 p.m., crews will close that section of MD 445 and detour traffic using MD 21 (Tolchester Beach Road) and MD 20 (Rock Hall Road). Crews will spend the weekend replacing the deteriorated metal pipe with an elliptical concrete pipe and patching the roadway.

Single lane closures and a flagging operation may be needed before and after the weekend work to mobilize and clean up the work site. MDOT SHA’s contractor Covington Machine and Welding of Annapolis will handle the work.

MDOT SHA works to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews and our customers. Drivers are reminded to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
