(May 5, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a project Monday, May 9, to enhance pedestrian safety and access along Ingleside Avenue under I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) in the Catonsville area of Baltimore County.

Beginning Monday, crews will work weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on curbs, gutters and sidewalks along Ingleside Avenue between Stoney Lane and Fern Valley Circle. Completion is expected in early summer, weather permitting.

During work hours, motorists can expect temporary single-lane closures and flagging operations to control two-way traffic. Temporary work zone signs and reflective barrels will be in place to safely guide travelers through the work zone under I-695.

The work is part of a $6.4 million area-wide MDOT SHA contract to improve safety, operations and accessibility on state highways in Baltimore and Harford counties to meet current federal and state Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Image Asphalt Maintenance, of Pasadena, is the contractor performing the work.

MDOT SHA recently reconstructed and widened the southbound I-695 (Beltway Outer Loop) bridge over Ingleside Avenue as part of the major project to widen southbound I-695 between south of US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) and MD 144 (Frederick Road). The highway widening project was completed in summer 2021.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, reduce speed and look for other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
