Daytime Work Requires Single-Lane and Shoulder Closure in Work Zone

(May 9, 2022) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has begun a project to replace guardrails along MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) between US 1 (Washington Boulevard) and the Howard and Anne Arundel counties line, just south of Dorsey Run Road.

Crews are upgrading the existing guardrails along 1.5 miles of roadway to ensure the system meets current standards. The work is being performed weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with completion expected in June, weather permitting.

The work requires a single-lane and shoulder closure in the area where crews are working. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Guardrails, Etc. Inc., based in Baltimore, will use electronic arrow boards, cones and barrels to alert motorists and guide them through the work zone. There will also be a truck mounted attenuator within the work zone to protect crews and motorists.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
