Motorists Can Expect Nightly Single-Lane Closures June 26 through July 1

 (June 21, 2022) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform overnight work next week to improve the driving surface on the ramp from the inner loop of I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) to southbound MD 5 (Branch Avenue) in Prince George’s County. Work includes sealing cracks and filling in joints with grout.

Starting Sunday, June 26, and continuing through Friday, July 1, crews will work 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night along the inner loop of I-95/I-495 at Exit 7A, MD 5 South, weather permitting. During the work hours, motorists can expect the following lane closures on the inner loop of the I-95/I-495 ramp:

  • A left-lane closure Sunday, June 26, from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday, June 27;
  • A right-lane closure Tuesday, June 28, from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Friday, July 1.

The contractor, Marksmen, M.D. Miller Co. Inc., based in Baltimore, will use signs, cones, electronic arrow boards and barrels to alert and guide motorists through the work zone.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
