Motorists Should Expect Single-Lane Closures until September

(July 8, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is starting a project next week to improve the driving surface and enhance safety along five miles of northbound and southbound MD 75 (Green Valley Road) between MD 355 (Urbana Pike) and MD 80 (Fingerboard Road) in Frederick County.

Starting Monday, July 11, and continuing to September, crews will remove the top layer of the roadway, smooth out the road surface and add a new layer of asphalt. Single-lane closures with flagging operations will take place 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Francis O. Day Company Inc., of Rockville, will use signs, cones, electronic arrow boards and flaggers to alert and guide motorists through the work zone.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.

Editor’s Note

From intersection improvements to widening and new interchange construction, MDOT SHA is investing in projects to enhance the commute and daily travel for millions of Marylanders.  MDOT SHA maintains more than 2,500 bridges and 17,000 miles of non-toll state roads – the interstate, US and state numbered routes in Maryland’s 23 counties.
