Weekend Ramp Closures Required to Pour New Concrete Pavement; Motorists Traveling from I-70 West to I-695 North and South to be Detoured onto Security Boulevard (MD 122) to Reach I-695

(August 19, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will temporarily close the westbound I-70 interchange ramps to southbound and northbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway outer and inner loops) in Woodlawn this weekend to allow pouring of new concrete pavement.

The westbound ramps from I-70 to the I-695 outer loop (Exit 91A) and the inner loop (Exit 91B) will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, August 19, to 5 a.m. Monday, August 22.

I-70 West will remain open. Motorists traveling westbound on I-70 to I-695 will be detoured onto the ramp onto northbound Security Boulevard (MD 122) toward Baltimore County, then I-695. The ramp onto southbound Security Boulevard, toward Cooks Lane and Baltimore City, will remain open. The ramp from Ingleside Avenue to I-70 West will remain open.

MDOT SHA advises motorists on westbound I-70 traveling from the Park and Ride lot to I-695 to plan for extra travel time within the interchange area. Digital message boards, temporary traffic signs and cones will guide motorists through the detour route. In the event of inclement weather, the concrete work and detours will take place the following weekend, August 26-29.

This work is part of MDOT SHA’s ongoing program to resurface pavements and enhance safety on Maryland’s primary highway system. MDOT SHA contractor Concrete General Inc., of Gaithersburg, is performing the work.

MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
