Baltimore County/Harford County line    

  • US 40 Dual Bridges over Little Gunpowder Falls and (Big) Gunpowder Falls -Bridge rehabilitation – Single-lane closures possible on US 40 in the vicinity of the four bridges on Saturdays through fall 2022.  Eastbound US 40: 7 a.m.  to 4 p.m. Westbound US 40: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Calvert County / St. Mary’s County line  

  • MD 4 Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge – Routine maintenance on Sunday morning, October 16 between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Drivers will be directed using a flagging operation.  New 

Week Ahead

Allegany County 

  • US 219 North closed in both directions beginning at on-ramp from I-68 – Pavement improvement project  - Traffic is being detoured to US 219 Business Route.  A flagging operation will be in place near the tie-in on US 219 Business and US 219 North impacting both north and south lanes of traffic.  Work is expected to be completed by October 17.  Crews will be working 24 hours until complete.   

Anne Arundel County                          

  • MD 173 Bridge over Stoney Creek – Routine bridge maintenance with temporary bridge openings on Thursday, October 21 between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. New
  • Northbound MD 10 between MD 270 and I-695 – Pavement Resurfacing - Single lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. 
  • MD 270 between MD 2 and MD 648 – Pavement Resurfacing – Single lane closure with a flagging operation, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays 

Baltimore County                 


  • I-95 /I-695 Southwest Interchange – Pre-construction shoulder and ramp paving work for multi-bridge rehabilitation project –   
    • ​Northbound I-95 at I-695: Each night, Sunday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 19, there will be a single right-lane closure beginning at 7 p.m., then a double right-lane closure at 9 p.m., until 5 a.m. the next day. 
    • Southbound I-95 at I-695: Each night, Monday, October 17 through Thursday, October 20 there will be a single right-lane closure beginning at 7 p.m., then a double right-lane closure at 9 p.m., until 5 a.m. the next day.  
    • Ramp from I-95 northbound to Exit 49A eastbound I-695 (Outer Loop): This ramp will be closed overnight on four nights: Sunday night, October 16 through Wednesday night, October 19, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Detour: Motorists needing to access I-695 eastbound from northbound I-95 will be directed to continue north to exit 50B, Caton Avenue. Proceed on Caton Avenue through the interchange to turn left at the traffic signal onto southbound I-95. From there, merge to far left to the left-side exit 49A. eastbound I-695 (Outer Loop).    
    • Ramp from southbound I-95 to eastbound I-695 (Outer Loop): This ramp will be closed overnight on Thursday, October 20, from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday, October 21. Detour: Prior to the I-695 interchange, motorists can take Exit 50A, southbound Caton Avenue, and proceed on southbound Caton Avenue to southbound US 1 Alt. (Washington Blvd.). Continue on to US 1 Alt to left-turn ramp at traffic signal to eastbound I-695.   Updated
  • I-695 West (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) from MD 146 (Dulaney Valley Road) to I-83 South (Jones Falls Expressway) - Interstate pavement patching - Overnight single and double lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, Sundays through Thursdays, through late fall 2022.    
  • MD 41 (Perring Parkway) from Joppa Road to Waltham Woods Road - Highway maintenance pavement resurfacing - Overnight single lane closures and flagging operations between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, Sundays through Thursdays through fall 2022.    
  • MD 26 (Liberty Rd.) from I-695 to North Rolling Rd. – ADA Sidewalk Improvements - Overnight single lane closures along this section of Liberty Road Sundays through Thursdays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning.  Daytime single lane closures on this section of Liberty Road possible Mondays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. through late fall 2022.     
  • MD 137 (Mt. Carmel Rd.) from MD 25 (Falls Rd.) to Cedar Grove Rd. – Highway Maintenance pavement milling, patching and resurfacing – Daytime temporary lane closures and flagging operations between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday – Friday through late fall 2022.      
  • MD 138 (Troyer Road) and MD 562 (Troyer Rd./Old York Rd.) - Highway Maintenance pavement patching on 2 sections: 1) MD 138 (Troyer Rd.) north of the MD 138 (Shepperd Rd.) / MD 562 (Troyer Rd.) intersection to the Harford County line just east of Hunters Mill Rd. Followed by 2) MD 562 (Troyer Rd./Old York Rd.) from south of the MD 138 (Shepperd Rd.) intersection to Markoe Road. The patching work on MD 138 and MD 562 will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sundays through Thursdays through late fall 2022.      
  • MD 138 (Monkton Road) from the Gunpowder River Bridge to MD 45 (York Road) - Highway Maintenance pavement patching between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday – Friday through late November 2022.      
  • MD 542 (Loch Raven Boulevard) from Taylor Avenue to Joppa Road - Highway maintenance pavement patching with overnight single lane closures and flagging operations between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, Sundays through Thursday through late fall 2022.   

Calvert County      

  • MD 4 at Mount Harmony Road – Median closure and crossover work for intersection reconstruction - Daytime single lane closure along northbound and southbound MD 4 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.    

Carroll County              

  • MD 97 (Old Washington Road) between Piney View Court and MD 26 (Liberty Road) - Highway Maintenance Project – Single lane closures to mill, patch and pave the roadway. Work schedule is 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday until completion in September.         

Dorchester County                                      

  • Eastbound US 50 from Woods Rd to Oak Hill Rd – Utility work with three lanes and shoulder closures permitted Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. through October.
  • US 50 East and West at MD 750 (Old Rt. 50) and Bucktown Road - Traffic signal modifications.  Single lane and shoulder closures weekdays 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. through September.

Frederick County            

  • MD 77 between Catoctin Hollow Road and the Frederick/Washington Co line (west of Brown Road) - Highway maintenance project - Single lane closures Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.       

Harford County            

  • MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) from MD 924 (Tollgate Road/Emmorton Road) to MacPhail Road – Pavement Milling and Resurfacing – Overnight temporary single lane closures/traffic lane shifts on MD 24 northbound and southbound between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, Sundays through Thursdays through late fall.
  • MD 136 (Whiteford Road) between Robinson Mill Road and Heaps Road – Highway Maintenance pavement milling patching and resurfacing – Occasional temporary overnight lane closures and flagging operations for final pavement marking between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sundays – Thursdays through fall 2022.        
  • MD 543 (Creswell / Fountain Green Rd.) from I-95 to MD 136 (Calvary Rd.) – Highway Maintenance Pavement Patching – Overnight temporary lane closures and flagging operations between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day Sunday – Thursday through late fall 2022.                        

Montgomery & Prince George’s Counties

  • I-95/I-495 (Woodrow Wilson Bridge) over the Potomac River -  From 11 p.m. Thursday, October 20, through 5 a.m. Friday, October 21, there will be periodic openings for bridge maintenance. New 

St. Mary’s County                                   

  • MD 5 (Point Lookout Road) between Abell/Moakley Streets and MD 245 (Hollywood Road) - Single and/or double lane closures, Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.                                       
  • MD 5 between Camp Brown Road and Scotland Beach Road – Weekday single lane closures between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. for resurfacing along northbound MD 5.            

Somerset County         

  • Northbound and southbound US 13 (Ocean Highway) from CN Baughan Rd to MD 822 (UMES Boulevard) -   Milling, patching, paving and marking operations with double lane and shoulder closures weekdays 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. through October.      

Worcester County           

  • North and Southbound MD 528 from 9th Street to North Division St – Utility Work.  Double lane and shoulder closures Monday – Thursday through October.   
  • North and Southbound MD 528 from 9th Street to 28th St – Utility Work.  Double lane and shoulder closures Monday – Thursday through October.   
  • North and Southbound MD 528 from 30th Street to 127th St – Utility Work.  Double lane and shoulder closures Monday – Thursday through October.   
  • Westbound US 50 from MD 611 (Stephen Decatur Highway) to Keyser Point Rd – Nighttime ditching and grading with single lane and shoulder closures 8 p.m. - 6 a.m. through October.      

Long-Term Closures ​

Allegany County                 

  • MD 51 (Oldtown Road) Bridge over the C&O Canal – Crews will be closing both lanes and creating a single lane in the center of the roadway.  This traffic set up will include a temporary traffic signal alternating traffic through the single lane.  Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by the end of summer.                             
  • I-68 (National Freeway) to Street Road - Crews will be patching, milling, and paving.  There will be a left lane closure Eastbound.  Signs, barrels, and cones will be in place. Work times will vary between night work and daytime work. Weather permitting, this project is expected to be completed by November.                                                          

Anne Arundel County                            

  • Southbound MD 2 (Ritchie Highway) between Cypress Creek Road and US 50 - Resurfacing - Overnight single Lane closures between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays.   
  • Westbound US 50 between Oceanic Drive and MD 2 – Nighttime pavement resurfacing between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., Monday nights – Friday nights.     
  • MD 2 between the South River bridge and MD 214: Pavement Resurfacing and sidewalk reconstruction between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights with lane closures.    
  • I-97 Northbound and Southbound between MD 450 and MD 178 – Pavement Patching – overnight single lane closures between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. New   

Baltimore County               

  • Raphael Road overpass of I-95 (JFK Memorial Expressway) - MDTA Reconstruction Project – MDTA closed the Raphael Road overpass as part of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETL) Northbound Extension project. The closure will be in place through early 2023 and traffic is being detoured to the Bradshaw Road overpass.           
  • I-70 Westbound between I-695 and the Patapsco River/Howard Co. Line – Asphalt Pavement Resurfacing and Safety Improvements – Single and double lane closures on westbound I-70 daytime Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight Sunday – Thursday 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, through early 2023.  There will also be temporary overnight interchange ramp closures and detours for paving work Sunday – Thursday nights (posted in advance on digital message boards).              
  • I-70 Westbound and Eastbound between the Baltimore City Line and I-695 – Concrete Pavement Resurfacing – Single and double lane closures on I-70 east of I-695 weekdays Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and continuous lane and/or ramp closures on selected weekends for concrete pour and cure from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Sundays, until early 2023.            
  • I-695 Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) (I-70 to MD 43)
    • I-695 West / Outer Loop near I-795 (Northwest Expy.) Ramps - Asphalt Paving - Overnight single and double lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday 10/16 through Thursday 10/20 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day.
    • I-695 West / Outer Loop near MD 140 (Reisterstown Rd.) - Installation of temporary work zone barriers and traffic lane shift – Overnight single and double lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday 10/16 through Thursday 10/20 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day.
    • I-695 North and South / Inner and Outer Loops from US 40 to MD 26 (Liberty Rd.)  – Installation of temporary work zone barriers and traffic lane shift – Overnight single and double lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, Sunday 10/16 through Thursday 10/20 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day.
  • I-695 Bridge over US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) - Bridge support structure rehabilitation – Crews are working on repairs to bridge piers and abutments under I-695 with long-term traffic shifts and temporary lane closures on US 40 eastbound and westbound underneath I-695 in Catonsville through fall 2022.                  
  • US 40 (Pulaski Highway) Dual Bridges over Little Gunpowder Falls and (Big) Gunpowder Falls -Bridge rehabilitation – Traffic Pattern Change: There is a traffic split in place on both the US 40 eastbound and westbound bridges over Little Gunpowder Falls which, will be in effect through late fall 2022.  Construction work will proceed on all four bridges through spring 2023, with ongoing temporary single lane closures on eastbound and westbound US 40 in the vicinity of the bridges during the following off-peak times:  Daytime (Monday – Saturday) Westbound US 40: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Eastbound US 40: 7 a.m.  to 4 p.m.  Overnight (Sunday – Thursday) Westbound and Eastbound US 40:  7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day. Possible Traffic Impact in Harford County.  
  • MD 25 (Falls Road) between Baltimore City / County Line and I-695 – Baltimore County DPWT water line replacement project - Overnight lane closures with flagging operations along sections of Falls Road, 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. the next day Sunday – Thursday, with some daytime work as needed 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. through spring 2024.     
  • MD 26 (Liberty Road) between Brenbrook Drive and N. Rolling Road - ADA Sidewalk Reconstruction/Upgrades - Occasional temporary overnight single lane closures on MD 26 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day Sunday - Thursday and now between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday through early fall 2022.                        
  • MD 30 (Hanover Pike) at Mt. Gilead Road – Intersection Improvements –Daytime lane closures with flagging operations at intersection Monday through Friday, now 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.             
  • MD 43 (White Marsh Blvd.) at Honeygo Blvd. - Intersection Widening and Improvements - Temporary daytime lane closures on MD 43 and Honeygo Blvd. legs of the intersection between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, and overnight lane closures at any time between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day Sunday-Thursday. When necessary, there will be temporary lane closures on weekends, 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday and/or Sunday through fall 2022.        
  • MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) between I-695 and Mt. Wilson Lane/ Grey Rock Rd. with MD 140 at Hooks Lane - Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements - includes traffic signal upgrades, crosswalk markings, and paving on MD 140 and also on Hooks Lane at MD 140. Temporary daytime single lane closures on MD 140 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday – Friday and overnight single lane closures on Hooks Lane approach to MD 140 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning Sunday – Thursday through late summer 2022.          
  • MD 140 (Reisterstown Rd.) between E. Pleasant Hill Rd. and Stocksdale Ave. –Resurfacing/County Water Main replacement - Daytime single lane closures Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. between E. Pleasant Hill Rd and Stocksdale Ave.  Nighttime single lane closures within project limits Sunday – Thursday nights between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next day. Access to driveways in this section will be maintained during any lane closures.  Project scheduled through late summer 2024.                 
  • MD 140 (Reisterstown Rd.) between Painters Mill Rd. and E. Pleasant Hill Rd. – Resurfacing/County Water Main replacement – project is substantially complete in summer 2022 with occasional daytime single lane closures for final construction tasks through fall, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Owings Mills Blvd. and E. Pleasant Hill Rd.  Occasional nighttime single lane closures within project limits late summer Sunday – Thursday nights between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day.         
  • MD 147 (Harford Road) / Joppa Road - Intersection Improvements - Daytime single lane closures and flagging operations on Harford and Joppa Roads in the vicinity of the intersection Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Fridays. Overnight work with lane closures Sunday – Thursday 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. the next day. Lane shift in effect on eastbound Joppa Road approaching Harford Road early fall 2022, with work zone barriers on right side of the street. Construction through fall 2022.      
  • MD 151 (Sparrows Point Blvd.) / Wharf Road (MD 151 B) Interchange - Three-bridge replacement project at interchange – New traffic pattern in effect: Northbound Wharf Road is now open to traffic between MD 151 and MD 158 (Bethlehem Blvd.). Southbound Wharf Road remains closed/detoured between MD 158 and MD 151. One side of the existing MD 151 bridge over Wharf Rd. is closed, and two-way traffic runs on the other side of the bridge (one lane in each direction) Interchange construction work scheduled through summer 2024.                                                

Cecil County                                                                                     

  • MD 213 (Augustine Herman Highway) bridge over C&D Canal in Chesapeake City – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers bridge repair project. Occasional single lane closures and flagging will occur 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday-Thursday. View real-time traffic conditions at the bridge with these cameras: MD 213 at Basil Ave. (south side) and MD 213 at Lock St. (north side).                
  • MD 279 (Elkton Road) at MD 277 (Fletchwood Road) – Northbound MD 279 is reduced to a single lane at the MD 277 intersection near the Delaware line and shifted across the median to a contraflow pattern (one lane in each direction).  This is part of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDot) reconstruction of route 279.                           

Frederick County                                                 

  • Northbound US 15 Bridge over MD 77 – Bridge Deck replacement project – The right lane is closed. Each side of the bridge is expected to take six to eight months to finish. The entire project is expected to be complete by spring 2023.                                          

Garrett County                              

  • MD 39 (Hutton Road) from Ashby Ellis to US 219 in Oakland – Drainage improvement and repaving project, flagging operation, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • MD 42 (Friendsville Road) from the bridge over Buffalo Run to the Pennsylvania State Line.  Drainage improvements – Flagging operation – 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Work is expected to continue through the construction season.        

Harford County                                                                     

  • MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) from Wheel Road to Singer Road – Highway resurfacing project - Temporary single lane closures and lane shifts between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next morning, Sundays – Thursdays, until mid-fall 2022.     
  • Old Joppa Road Bridge over I-95 (MDTA project) – Bridge replacement project – Old Joppa Road closed and locally detoured.                                                                               

Howard County        

  • MD 94 bridge over I-70 - Bridge deck replacement project - Northbound MD 94 lane is closed.                     

Montgomery County                                                         

  • MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) from north of Gold Mine Road to south of Holiday Drive - MD 97 relocation project. Intermittent off-peak single and multiple lane closures, weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through year-end 2022.         
  • Brookeville Road from MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) to Grayheaven Manor Road. Sewer relocation project. Full 24/7 road closure with detour through late fall 2022. Drivers should add extra commute time and use MD 97 and MD 108 as alternate routes.         
  • Brighton Dam Road near MD 97 (Georgia Avenue). MD 97 relocation project excavation and new road resurfacing work. Off-road activity with an intermittent off-peak flagging operation and single lane closures, Sunday through Saturday from sunrise to sunset through year-end 2022.         
  • MD 185 (Connecticut Avenue) at Jones Bridge Road/Kensington Parkway Intersection improvement project - Single off-peak lane closures on MD 185, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and single off-peak lane closures on Jones Bridge Road, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, 7 days per week, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late summer 2023.     
  • Southbound I-270 between I-70 and I-495 (Capital Beltway) - Traffic congestion relief construction project - Intermittent single lane closures, weekdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and single, double, and triple overnight lane closures, Sunday through Thursday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. and intermittent temporary ramp closures with detours up to 24 hours a day through year-end 2022.                                                                       

Prince George’s County    

  • US 1 (Baltimore Avenue), College Avenue to MD 193 (University Boulevard) - US 1 Reconstruction Project - Corridor Improvement- Northbound and southbound single lane closures throughout the length of the project Saturday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. tm. through late summer 2023.               
  • US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) from Rhode Island Avenue to MD 212A (Powder Mill Road). Safety and resurfacing project. Off peak single and multiple lane closures, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late summer 2023.           
  • US 1 (Rhode Island Avenue) from Charles Armentrout Drive to Farragut Street. Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail project. Single and multiple off-peak lane closures, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through year-end2023.    
  • MD 210 at Livingston Road/Kerby Hill Road. Interchange construction project. Intermittent   off-peak single and multiple lane closures, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 8 p.m.to 5 a.m. through late fall 2022.                                                                       
  • MD 212A (Powder Mill Road) from Pine Street to US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) - Roadway reconstruction project. Intermittent single and multiple lane closures weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through late fall 2022.                        
  • MD 223 (Woodyard Road) from Sherwood Drive to Victoria Drive - Sidewalk construction project - Off-peak lane closures, weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through late fall 2022.                       
  • MD 223 (Woodyard Road) at Dower House Road - Geometric improvement project - Single weekday lane closures, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through late fall 2022.   
  • MD  500 (Queens Chapel Road) from Eastern Avenue to MD 208 (Hamilton Street) Community safety and enhancement project. Intermittent single and multiple lane closures weekdays,9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through late fall 2022.                           
  • U S 1 (Baltimore Avenue) over I-495 (Capital Beltway) - Bridge painting and cleaning project. Single and multiple off-peak lane closures; 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through year-end 2022.    

St. Mary’s County               

  • MD 236 Resurfacing between MD 234 and MD 5 – Roadway resurfacing – daytime single lane closure with a flagging operation between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.         
  • Northbound MD 235 (Three Notch Road) between Gate 1 and Gate 2 in Lexington Park – County DPW work – Single lane closure for sidewalk reconstruction – weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.       

Talbot County                                                         

  • MD 33 (Talbot St.) from Spencer Ave. to Lee St. in St. Michaels - Sidewalk project. Occasional single-lane closures and flagging 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday through spring 2023.            

Washington County                

  • Eastbound and westbound I-70 at the MD 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) – Bridge rehabilitation and widening of I-70 bridges over MD 65 - through September, the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound MD 65 will be closed and motorists detoured.                
  • Westbound US 40 (W. Franklin Street) between Nottingham Road and MD 144 (West Washington Street) – Patching, milling, and paving.  Expect right and left shoulder closures, nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.           
  • Westbound I-68 (National Freeway) between Mountain Road and MD 144 – Patching, milling, and paving. Expect overnight lane closures, nightly from 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. Once westbound is completed work will begin eastbound.
