(January 6, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform bridge deck repairs between 8 p.m. Saturday, January 7, and 5 a.m. Sunday, January 8, on the southbound I-95 bridge over westbound I-195 (Metropolitan Boulevard) in southwestern Baltimore County. The work will necessitate a temporary triple-lane closure on southbound I-95. Motorists are urged to plan extra commuting time.

Crews will repair a damaged joint on the bridge deck (riding surface). The project continues work that was started overnight this past Thursday, and requires three of four lanes on southbound I-95 near I-195 to be closed temporarily. The lanes will be closed on the following schedule:

  • a single right lane closed at 8 p.m.;
  • two right lanes closed at 10 p.m.; and
  • three right lanes closed midnight until 5 a.m. Sunday.

During the closure, all traffic on southbound I-95 will be directed to use the left lane(s). The interchange ramps to and from I-195 and MD 166 (Rolling Road) will remain open during the overnight repair work.

Maryland’s Move Over Law requires motorists to make a lane change or slow down when approaching any stopped, standing, or parked vehicle displaying hazard warning lights, road flares, or other caution signals. The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
