Drivers Can Expect Overnight Single-Lane Closures Monday and Tuesday Nights

(May 1, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will work overnight Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2, to repair a bridge expansion joint on the eastbound I-70 bridge over the Patapsco River at the Baltimore County/Howard County line. On Tuesday, May 2, crews will work daytime hours and will need to close the right lane and shoulder on I-70 eastbound from 10:30 a.m. into the evening. The repairs are expected to be completed over two nights, weather permitting.

A single lane and shoulder will be closed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. both nights into the following morning. Motorists are encouraged to use US 40 (Baltimore-National Pike) as an overnight alternate route. Contractor The Marksmen Company, of Baltimore, will use cones, barrels and arrow boards to guide motorists safely through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration understands the work may inconvenience some travelers and asks all motorists to please stay alert and be patient as you pass through the work zone.
