Safety Concerns Prompt Reduction to 35 mph on Three-Quarter Mile Stretch of Royal Oak Road Between MD 33 and Moores Road

(December 18, 2023) – This week the State Highway Administration will reduce the speed limit on MD 329 (Royal Oak Road) between MD 33 (St. Michaels Road) and Moores Road, near the Royal Oak and Newcomb areas of Talbot County. The current speed limit of 40 mph will be reduced to 35 mph.

This permanent reduction is aimed at improving safety along a three-quarter mile stretch of MD 329 featuring numerous homes, driveways and side streets. The Administration reminds drivers that obeying posted speed limits everywhere helps ensure community and driver safety - and it’s the law.

Remember that all posted speed limits indicate ideal driving conditions - dry roads and clear visibility. Drivers are urged to reduce speed and stay under the posted limit when roads are wet or visibility is reduced.
