Motorists Can Expect Overnight Single-Lane Closures along US 1 Through Mid-Summer
(May 27, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a resurfacing project on US 1 Business between Tollgate Road and MD 924 (Bond Street) in Bel Air starting as soon as Sunday night, June 1. The US 1 paving project is expected to be completed in early summer, weather permitting.
Crews will work overnights, Sundays through Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists can expect single-lane closures along northbound or southbound US 1 during work hours. Crews will use temporary traffic signs, cones and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.
The $600,000 project is part of a $7 million State Highway Administration contract to repair, patch, mill and resurface pavements on primary State highways in Harford County. The contractor for these resurfacing projects is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
