I-68 Will Require a Closure with a One-Day Detour of Eastbound I-68 on Wednesday near the Street Road Bridge Over Eastbound I-68
(June 23, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration announces a one-day detour of eastbound I-68 (National Freeway) near the Street Road bridge to allow for pavement patching starting Wednesday, June 25. This is a one-day project that will occur between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The pavement repair project is weather permitting.
I-68 East – Detour
Motorists on eastbound I-68 will be directed to exit 52/eastbound MD 144 and follow to exit 56 to eastbound I-68. The posted detour is available here.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Belt Paving, Inc., from Cumberland, MD will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to notify motorists about the work zone, road closure and detour. Signs will guide motorists through the detour. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert, slow down and focus on driving safely through work zones.
