Repairs to bridges over the Wicomico River on US 50 (Ocean Gateway) and MD 991 (Main Street)

(July 2, 2025) – The Maryland State Highway Administration will begin repairs to two bridges over the Wicomico River on US 50 (Ocean Gateway) and MD 991 (Main Street) in downtown Salisbury next week, weather permitting.

Beginning Monday, July 7, at 7 a.m., crews will begin work to repair and replace dolphins and fenders and perform epoxy crack sealing to the undersides of both bridges over the Wicomico River.  All work on these drawbridges should be completed by May 2026. Crews will use intermittent single-lane closures as needed and minimal impacts to vehicular traffic are expected.

SHA contractor Specialty Underwater Services, LLC of Baltimore, MD, will perform this work.

The State Highway Administration appreciates customers’ patience during construction as we work to improve Maryland’s transportation system. Drivers are asked to stay alert, focused, and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone. Slow down and move over in work zones. It’s the law.

Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
