Drivers Should Expect Lane Closures on Northbound I-795 Both Weekends
(August 14, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will work two consecutive weekends to repair sections of damaged concrete pavement on northbound I-795 beginning 9 p.m. Friday, August 15. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, August 18.
Northbound I-795 weekend lane closure schedule:
• 9 p.m. Friday, August 15 - 8 a.m. Monday, August 18: Double-lane closure
• 9 p.m. Friday August 22 – 8 a.m. Monday, August 25: Single-lane closure
One or two lanes on northbound I-795 will be closed even when workers are not present so the new concrete can be cured and tested. There will be no temporary lane closures on southbound I-795 during the weekend work along northbound I-795.
Drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time on northbound I-795 between I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and Owings Mills Boulevard and to consider alternate routes such as MD 140 (Reisterstown Road). In case of inclement weather, the weekend work on northbound I-795 will be rescheduled to the next possible weekend, excluding the Labor Day holiday weekend (Friday, August 29 – September 1).
The weekend work to repair concrete pavement on northbound I-795 is part of the State Highway Administration’s $8.5 million areawide contract to improve safety and operations along Interstate highways in Baltimore and Harford counties. Contractor Gray & Son, Inc. of Timonium will use temporary traffic signs and cones to guide motorists traveling within the I-795 work zone.
The State Highway Administration is Serious about Safety. We work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
