I-95 signBGE Work Requires a 15-Minute Road Closure During Early Morning Hours to Install Overhead Electrical Cables (January 8, 2026) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is advising motorists of upcoming Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) work on both directions of I-95 in Howard County that will cause early morning traffic stops. Beginning at 4 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, BGE crews will install new overhead lines along northbound and southbound I-95 between MD 175 (Waterloo Rd) and MD 103 (Meadowridge Rd). Crews will need to stop traffic in both directions on I-95 for up to 15 minutes between the hours of 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. to hang the new utility lines. BGE is also scheduled to perform similar work with a traffic stoppage on US 29 (Columbia Pike) between MD 108 (Clarksville Pike) and MD 175 (Rouse Pkwy) on Sunday, January 18.
