***TRAFFIC ALERT*** STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION MAKING PAVEMENT REPAIRS ON I-97 AND NEW CUT ROAD, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

​Overnight closures for three nights 

(July 14, 2026) – ​The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will perform permanent pavement repairs along northbound I-97 near Exit 12 (New Cut Road/MD 3 Business) in Anne Arundel County starting Sunday night July 12.  

The overnight lane closures – scheduled for three nights - will begin at 9 p.m. and open for travel no later than 5 a.m. the following morning. 

SHA will close two of three northbound I-97 lanes on Sunday night July 12 and Monday night July 13.  

On Tuesday night July 14, all lanes of northbound I-97 will be closed to allow crews to repair the middle lane. Drivers will be directed to use Exit 10 (Veterans Highway/Benfield Boulevard) to connect back to I-97. 

Contractor PDI Sheetz of Linthicum Heights will remove the temporary asphalt and pour concrete for the permanent repairs. Drivers are reminded to reduce speeds and remain alert when driving through the work zone or to use alternate routes.
