Intersection Improvements Will Enhance Safety in Pocomoke City
(August 10, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is beginning a $451,616 construction project that will improve safety and traffic flow at the US 13 (Ocean Highway)/MD 366 (Stockton Road) intersection in Pocomoke City. Preliminary work has already began, and the project will begin in earnest next week.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, weather permitting, and includes:
- converting the existing traffic control beacons to a full traffic signal,
- adding signal control to all movements,
- update signage and pavement markings and
- installation of LED “Red Signal Ahead” signs in advance of the intersection.
Crews will work between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Motorists can expect single-lane closures and traffic will be guided through the work zone by cones and arrow boards. Drivers should expect traffic impacts with delays during work hours.
SHA’s contractor Lumin8 Mid-Atlantic LLC (doing business as Rommel Infrastructure of Linthicum) will perform the work.
