​Motorists Should Expect Nighttime Single-Lane Closures at the Intersection of US 40 (National Pike) and MD 63(Greencastle Pike) 

(September 24, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a resurfacing project at the intersection of US 40 (National Pike) and MD 63 (Greencastle Pike) in Washington County beginning Friday, September 25 and Monday, September 28 through Friday, October 2, weather permitting. 

Work will take place between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning to allow crews to perform the work. 

Motorists will be guided by a flagging operation in addition to signage, construction drums and channelizing devices.

The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety​. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
