Motorists Can Expect Weekly Overnight Crossover Closures through November
(November 2, 2026) The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will close two intersection crossovers on US 113 (Worcester Highway) beginning Friday night, November 6, so the Town of Berlin can work on the electrical transformers. The closures, which will be at the crossovers of MD 376 (Bay Street/Assateague Road) and Germantown Road/S. Main Street, will be in place for three consecutive Friday nights into Saturday mornings. All work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. on Saturday, November 21.
Once work begins this week, crews will work overnight, from 11 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday morning. While the transformer maintenance work is taking place, the traffic signals at these intersections will be turned off.
The State Highway Administration will place signs on the northbound and southbound sides of US 113 to alert motorists of the closures at MD 376 (Bay Street/Assateague Road) and Germantown Road/S. Main Street. Barrels will be used to close the intersection crossovers. Northbound and southbound traffic along US 113 will not be impacted by the utility work.
The State Highway Administration is Serious About Safety. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to remain alert and avoid distractions when traveling through the work zone. Motorists should obey all posted speed limits. Motorists can dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
