(January 16, 2013) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) advises motorists that crews will close three of the four lanes of northbound I-95 between MD 216 (Scaggsville Road) and MD 32 in Howard County during the overnight hours this Saturday night, January 19, into the early hours of Sunday, January 20, for an emergency road repair.

The lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday with a single left-lane closure, becoming a double left-lane closure at 11 p.m. and a triple left-lane closure at 1 a.m. Sunday. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Sunday.

Motorists planning to travel through this area may wish to consider US 1 (Washington Boulevard), US 29 (Columbia Pike), or MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) as alternative northbound routes.

The closures will allow crews to repair a joint in the Middle Patuxent River Bridge. SHA’s contractor for the work is PDI Sheetz of Linthicum Heights.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
