(January 28, 2013) – Looking to take advantage of mid-winter temperatures, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will patch lanes on the outer loop of I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) between MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) and MD 170 (Camp Meade Road) beginning this Tuesday night, January 29.

At least two nights are needed to complete the work, which includes grinding, patching and restriping of the center and right travel lanes.

Beginning at 8 p.m. crews will work in the center lane.  Both the center and left lanes will be closed to establish a safe work zone for crews.  Cones, barrels and signs will direct motorists to the right lane.

On Wednesday night starting at 8 p.m., crews will then work in the right lane, and also close the center lane for safety and shift through traffic to the left lane.  Motorists entering I-695 from MD 295 will stay to the right.

Work zones will be lifted by 5 a.m.  All work is weather-permitting and work days and hours may be adjusted depending on conditions.  This emergency work is necessary to address uneven pavement on I-695.

SHA urges motorists to exercise caution while driving through work zones.  Slow down and always be alert for changing conditions.  Call 511 or log onto www.MD511.org for traffic information.  Follow SHA on Twitter @MDSHA and like our Facebook page MarylandStateHighwayAdministration.
