(March 8, 2013) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) will close a section of MD 374 (Libertytown Road) from Monday, March 11 through Wednesday, March 13.  The temporary closure will allow crews to replace a 40-foot section of 24-inch corrugated metal stormwater pipe that was damaged during the storm this week.

MD 374 will be closed between Cedar Lane and The Bay Club Golf Course.  Concrete barrier will be placed across MD 347 during the maintenance work to prevent motorists from entering the work zone.

SHA crews will use variable message signs to alert motorists of the local traffic restrictions on MD 374.  Motorists, including all trucks, traveling both east and west on Libertytown Road will need to take alternate routes around the work zone during the pipe replacement.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely.  Safer driving. Safer work zones. For everyone!
