(May 23, 2013) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will hold a public informational meeting on Tuesday, May 28 to provide a construction update for the interchange at MD 32 and Linden Church Road in Howard County, including the upcoming temporary closure of a section of Ten Oaks Road.

The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Dayton Oaks Elementary School at 4691 Ten Oaks Road in Dayton. A formal presentation will begin at 7:15 p.m., and project officials will be available before and after the presentation to answer questions and discuss the project one-on-one. Displays will be available showing the project design, stages of construction and detour plans.

The Ten Oaks Road closure will begin mid-June (currently scheduled for June 17) and will last approximately six weeks. Ten Oaks Road will be closed to through-traffic south of West Linden Church Road to allow crews to install storm drain pipes and reconstruct the road for improved sight distance. During the closure, traffic on Ten Oaks Road south of West Linden Church Road will be directed to use the MD 108 interchange for access to and from MD 32.

The closure is part of a $15 million project led by SHA and funded by Howard County to improve safety and traffic flow by replacing two existing traffic signals on MD 32 with a grade-separated interchange. The project began July 2012 and is expected to be complete late fall 2013, weather permitting.

As part of the project, West Linden Church Road will be relocated 150 feet to the south to form a new T-intersection with Ten Oaks Road, and the grade (slope) of a 700-foot section of Ten Oaks Road will be reconstructed to improve sight distance at the new intersection. The closure of this section to complete this work is scheduled for the summer months when traffic volumes are lower and schools are closed. SHA will make every effort to complete the work and reopen the roadway as quickly as possible to minimize inconvenience to the community.

More information about the project is available at www.tinyurl.com/lindenchurch, or by calling the project field office at 410-531-1723.
