(July 17, 2013) – Highway construction work will result in closing the right lane of westbound Liberty Road (MD 26) from King James Circle / St. Lukes Lane to the driveway opposite the Sedgemoor Road intersection (approximately 1,000 feet) between 5 a.m. Sunday, July 21 and 5 a.m. Monday, July 22, weather permitting.

The 24-hour closure beginning Sunday will enable the State Highway Administration (SHA)’s contractor to safely pour and cure two concrete bus stop pads for Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus stops on Liberty Road.

The left lane of westbound Liberty Road and all side street and driveway entrances will remain open; however, SHA urges motorists and MTA bus riders to plan ahead for extra travel time along Liberty Road between the Baltimore City/County line and I-695.  MTA bus stops on westbound Liberty Road at King James Circle and opposite Sedgemoor Road will be closed during the concrete pavement work at the bus stops.  MTA bus riders may board buses at the next stops along westbound Liberty Road, at Brubar Court and Essex Road.

In case of inclement weather on Sunday, the work will take place next Sunday, July 28.  Citizens with questions or concerns about the pavement resurfacing work along Liberty Road may contact SHA’s District 4 Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2420, toll free at 1-866-998-0367, or by email: shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.
