(August 16, 2013) – Construction work will result in closing the right lane of westbound Liberty Road (MD 26) in Lochearn between 5 a.m. Sunday, August 18 and 5 a.m. Monday, August 19.  The 24-hour closure of the right lane of westbound Liberty Road between King James Circle and Croydon Road will allow the State Highway Administration (SHA) to safely pour and cure two concrete bus stop pads for Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus stops.

Although the left lane of westbound Liberty Road and all side street and driveway entrances will remain open Sunday; SHA urges motorists and MTA bus riders to plan ahead for extra travel time. SHA will close four MTA bus stops on westbound Liberty Road near the following intersections: 1) King James Circle, 2) Sunmar Court opposite Sedgewood Road, 3) Latham Road, and 4) Buckingham Road.  Bus passengers may board at the next stops west along Liberty Road.

In case of inclement weather on Sunday, the weekend right lane closure and concrete work will take place the next possible Sunday. There will be no construction-related lane closures on Liberty Road during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Citizens with questions or concerns about the pavement resurfacing work along Liberty Road may contact SHA’s District 4 Office – Construction Division at 410-229-2420, toll free at 1-866-998-0367, or by email: shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
