(September 5, 2013) – Motorists on US 340 should be perpared for possible delays at the bridge over the Potomac River at the Maryland/Virginia state line on Tuesday, September 10, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., due to a routine bridge inspection.

A flagging operation will be in place during those hours. Maryland State Highway Adminstration (SHA) inspectors will be performing a hands-on bridge inspection, which must be done in the daylight. Motorists should allow extra time and use caution in the area.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
