(December 18, 2013) –The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has reopened the Forestville Road Bridge over I-95 (Capital Beltway) in Morningside, Prince George’s County, ahead of schedule. The repair project began in October and had a late winter 2014 estimated completion date.

The bridge sustained damage when it was struck by a truck in 2011. The $700,000 project replaced portions of the deck (driving surface), parapet (bridge wall) and a damaged steel beam. Weather permitting; crews will complete permanent pavement marking work by the end of the year.

Approximately 33,000 motorists use this section of Forestville Road over I-95/I-495 in Prince George’s County daily. SHA’s contractor for the work is Rustler Construction, Inc, of Marlboro.

As crews work to keep work zones safe, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
