SHA COMPLETES TWO MAJOR SAFETY ENHANCEMENTS ON US 1 AT UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

(October 8, 2014) -  Several safety improvements planned for US 1 in College Park are now complete. The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) and the University of Maryland (UMD) will activate the pedestrian signal at the US 1 and Hartwick Road intersection, near the new median fence between Hartwick and Knox roads Thursday morning. SHA expedited these improvements to be in place during the fall semester.
 
Additionally, the Walk Smart College Park! Education Campaign is in full swing for fall.

DIRECTIONS:
From Baltimore Area:
Take southbound I-95 to I-495 West toward Silver Spring/Bethesda.  Follow signage.
Keep left at the fork, following signs for US-1/College Park and merge onto I-495 East.
Take exit 25A-25B to merge onto U.S. 1 South/Baltimore Ave toward College Park
Continue approximately 2.7 miles on US 1 to Hartwick Road – Parking lot is on right.
From DC Area:
From I-495 Eastbound or Westbound
Take exit 25A-25B to merge onto U.S. 1 South/Baltimore Ave toward College Park.
Continue approximately 2.7 miles on U.S. 1 to Hartwick Road – Parking lot is on right.
