(October, 9 2014) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close three left lanes of northbound I-95 (Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway) between Auth Road and Suitland Parkway beginning tonight. The closures are necessary for SHA to make  repairs to a deck puncture on the northbound I-95/I-495 bridge over Suitland Parkway. All lanes will reopen no later than 5 a.m. Friday.

Beginning at 10 p.m. tonight, crews will block two left lanes, and then close the three left lanes at midnight. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and plan for extra commute time during the repair. For the latest traffic conditions, log onto www.md511.org.

Late night through traffic heading north across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge may want to consider using northbound I-295, which connects with US 50 and MD 295 north of the roadwork.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
