(October 20, 2014) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is advising motorists that the exit point off of southbound I-95 to eastbound MD 198 (Sandy Spring Road) has been shifted north to the same exit lane as westbound MD 198; traffic heading towards eastbound and westbound MD 198 from southbound I-95 now use the same exit lane. The exit ramps for eastbound and westbound MD 198 remain in their same location.

Motorists traveling on southbound I-95 should be alert for a new exit pattern for MD 198. Stay alert for electronic message signs and other signs approaching the exits from southbound I-95 for MD 198.

Paving activities that were scheduled for Friday, October 17 on the exit ramp from southbound I-95 to westbound MD 198 will take place tonight, Monday October 20. Traffic should follow the posted detour to MD 212 (Powder Mill Road - Exit 29) to northbound I-95, to the collector distributor (CD) lanes where traffic can exit onto MD 198.

Motorists are reminded to reduce speeds and be attentive as they drive through the work zone. For more information about the project, please call the ICC Community Outreach staff at 1-866-462-0020. For real-time traffic information, log onto www.md511.org.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For Everyone!
