(February 4, 2015) – Saturday morning, February 7 (weather permitting), Schuster Construction will close the two right lanes along MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) between MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) and Commerce Lane for a crane operation in Bethesda.

Beginning at 4 a.m., a large crane will move into place that will be used to lift a second crane onto 7535 Old Georgetown Road, which is just west of MD 355. All traffic lanes should be open no later than 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 8. In case of inclement weather, the work will occur next weekend.

Schuster Construction is permitted to close all through lanes on MD 187, though they will convert the left-most parking lane into a through travel lane during the crane operation.  Drivers should plan ahead and add extra travel time.

Montgomery County Traffic Enforcement officers will guide motorists through the work zone. The company’s contractor will use arrow panels, construction barrels, cones and a flagging operation to direct motorists safely around the crane operation.

Sidewalks directly beneath the work zone on MD 187 will be closed during the crane operation. Pedestrians will be directed to safe crossings and sidewalks on the opposite side of MD 187.
