(September 3, 2015) - Repairs to navigational lights under the Thomas Johnson Bridge (MD 2/4) require the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) to close a travel lane for two nights next week. Crews will close one of the two lanes and alternate traffic using a flagging operation overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10 (through Friday at 5 a.m.).

The closure allows crews to safely access the underside of the bridge. This work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of rain or high winds. SHA asks for motorists’ patience during the flagging operation.

While SHA and its partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert – look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don't follow too closely. Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones. For everyone!
