Crews will Replace Aviation Lights on the Structure

(October 23, 2015) – Following Sunday’s daytime work for bridge painting, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will close one of the two lanes at night on the Thomas Johnson Bridge (MD 4 over the Patuxent River) between Calvert and St. Mary’s counties on Monday, October 26. Crews will facilitate travel with a flagging operation to alternate traffic between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The lane closure allows crews safe access to the bridge to replace aviation lights on the bridge.

This work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of rain or high winds.  SHA asks for motorists’ patience during the flagging operation.  Additionally, travelers should allow extra time to cross the bridge.  For the latest real-time travel information, log onto www.md511.org.
