Motorists Should Expect Delays and Plan Alternate Routes; Overnight Work Expected through Next Sunday Night

(October 26, 2015) – Beginning tonight (weather permitting), and continuing nightly, through next Sunday November 1, the  Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close lanes on the inner loop (southbound) of I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) near MD 450 (Annapolis Road, Exit 20) in New Carrollton, Prince George’s County. The closures are necessary to repair the concrete deck (driving surface) of the I-95/I-495 Bridge over Amtrak. Weather permitting, the work should be complete by 5 a.m. on Monday, November 2.

At 9 p.m., SHA will close a single left lane, two lanes at 10 p.m. and three lanes at 11 p.m. to complete the repairs. All lanes should reopen by 5 a.m. the next day, weather permitting.

SHA asks for your patience as crews work to repair the bridge deck. For the latest real-time travel information, log onto www.md511.org.
