Median Work Necessitates Detour for About Three Months

(November 4, 2015) –As part of the $59 million US 15/Monocacy Boulevard Interchange project in Frederick, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the median crossover at southbound US 15 to eastbound Monocacy Boulevard. Weather permitting; crews will open the crossover early 2016.

The temporary closure is necessary for motorists’ safety as SHA’s contractor will be working behind concrete barrier in the center median, obstructing drivers’ sight distance.  Motorists traveling south on US 15 will be directed to the US 15/Motter Avenue Interchange to northbound US 15 to MD 26 (Liberty Road) then back to eastbound Monocacy Boulevard. The detour will add approximately 10 minutes of travel time depending on the time of day.

SHA appreciates travelers’ patience during the detour and construction. Click here for information about the overall project.  For the latest real-time travel information, log onto www.md511.org.
