Cracked and Damaged Pavement Numerous Sections of Pavement Damaged; Crews to Work all Weekend on Repairs

(September 30, 2016) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) today closed nearly 12 miles of MD 12 (Snow Hill Road) between the Town of Snow Hill in Worcester County and the City of Salisbury in Wicomico County.  Water damaged the roadway and crews are repairing multiple pavement washouts and/or slope breaches.  The lower Eastern Shore received, in some locations, more than 10 inches of rain since Wednesday.

Motorists wishing to travel between Snow Hill and Salisbury are being directed to use MD 354 (Whiton Road) to US 50 (Ocean Gateway) or US 113 (Worcester Highway) to US 13 (Ocean Highway) through the towns of Pocomoke City and Princess Anne to reach Salisbury.

Area travelers should remain alert for work crews and emergency responders.  SHA crews will continue to work and re-open MD 12 as soon as temporary repairs are complete.  SHA will need to return at a later time to make permanent repairs.

SHA recommends visiting www.md511.org for the latest real-time travel information.
