Due to a resurfacing project on the inner loop of I-495 in Bethesda, the bridge repair project described below has been cancelled.  SHA will keep you advised of a new date.

Crews Will Repair Bridge over Jones Mill Road/Stoneybrook Drive

(October 13, 2016) – Beginning this Sunday night at 8 p.m.(weather permitting), the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close  two lanes on the inner loop of I-495 (Capital Beltway) between MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) and MD 185 (Connecticut Avenue).

Crews will replace joints on the I-495 Bridge over Jones Mill Road/Stoneybrook Drive. The work is part of ongoing repairs to the bridge deck (driving surface) to improve ride quality for drivers. Most of the work was completed earlier this year. The lane closures will be used to finalize the repairs.  Crews are permitted to close two lanes, overnight, Sunday through Thursday beginning at 8 p.m. All traffic lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the next day.  Weather and progress permitting, the work will be complete late fall.

All lanes necessary to complete each phase of the repairs will remain closed until it is safe for motorists. Drivers should plan ahead and expect delays. For the latest real-time travel information, log onto www.md511.org or call 1-855-466-3511 using a hands-free device.
