New Roadway Alignment to be Constructed; Motorists Should Plan Extra Travel Time

(November 10, 2016) – Early next week, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will activate a temporary traffic signal on MD 47 (Barrelville Road) at the bridge over the north branch of Jennings Creek. The signal will alternate traffic in the southbound lane to allow crews room to construct new bridge approaches.

The temporary signal will be operational for approximately two months while crews construct new bridge approaches.  The project will improve a sharp curve in the roadway leading to the bridge, improving safety for approximately 2,000 motorists who use MD 47 each day.

For additional information about the construction of the new bridge please click here.  Log onto www.md511.org or call 511 for real-time travel conditions.

The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration reminds drivers to adhere to the posted speed limits and remain alert while driving.  Those who have questions about SHA projects in Allegany County may call the SHA District 6 Office at 301-729-8400 or send email to shadistrict6@sha.state.md.us.
