(September 11, 2017) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform routine swing span maintenance on the MD 436       (Ridgely Avenue) Bridge over Weems Creek in Anne Arundel County. The overnight work will take place beginning at 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 21 until 5 a.m. on Friday, September 22.

The work requires the swing span to be in the open position, which necessitates a closure and detour for motorists. Marine traffic will be permitted through the bridge. Drivers will be directed to the following routes:

• Traveling from Annapolis, drivers will be detoured onto MD 70 (Rowe Boulevard) to a right onto Bestgate Road and a right back onto MD 436 (Ridgely Avenue).

• Traveling toward Annapolis, drivers will turn left onto Bestgate Road, a left onto MD 70, a left onto Melvin Avenue and a left back to MD 436 (Ridgely Avenue).

This work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of rain or high winds.  MDOT/SHA asks for motorists’ patience during the detour.
