Motorists Encouraged to Plan for Extra Travel Time During Construction

(October 26, 2017) – Starting next week, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will resurface eastbound US 50 between Walston Switch Road and White Richardson Road in Parsonsburg. The $2 million project will be complete in early 2018.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Allan Myers of Fallston, will patch, mill, pave and restripe six miles of eastbound US 50. Motorists can expect daytime single lane, double lane and shoulder closures between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. Crews will use barrels, cones and arrow boards to guide motorists through the work zone.

Last resurfaced in 2008, more than 35,000 vehicles travel this section of US 50 each day. Motorists are encouraged to build in additional commuting time during the resurfacing project.

Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands. Maryland drivers can also know before they go by calling 511 or visiting www.md511.org for live traffic updates.
