Process will Add Longer Service Life to Bridge Driving Service

(November 3, 2017) –  On November 6, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will apply a bridge deck seal on the MD 75 Bridge over Sams Creek in Union Bridge. The $170,000 preventative maintenance project will be complete in one week.

MDOT SHAs contractor, Concrete General Inc. of Gaithersburg, will alternate traffic using a 24-hour flagging operation to guide motorists through the work zone. Crews will begin work on Monday, November 6 at 9 a.m.

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver need to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.

Maryland drivers can also know before they go by visiting www.md511.org for live traffic updates, including construction delays and lane closures. Those who have questions about SHA projects in Frederick County may call the SHA District 7 Office at 410-624-8100 or send email inquiries to shadistrict7@sha.state.md.us.
